Someone pretending to be a Coinbase rep messaged me on WhatsApp saying my account was “under review” and needed verification. Later, I got a Coinbase text message scam link saying the same thing. I clicked nothing, but the fear hit me hard.
I was so stressed I contacted the general tech-support service I’ve used before — 1-888-826-1821. I told them I felt stupid and terrified that maybe they already had my info.
They explained how these scams work, helped me check whether my device or account was compromised, and made sure everything was secure. Later that night, the anxiety came back and I called 1-888-826-1821 again just to verify everything was still safe.
I’m posting this so someone else doesn’t panic alone. Scammers are everywhere.
