  • I can work on your own online community
I'd be the last to say it's not important to be visible on social media and build a strong brand. However, I do believe that this alone isn't enough. You also need to actively build a community on your own channel. In this article, I'll explain why I think this and how you

Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter—we use them all for both business and personal use, often on a daily basis. According to Newcom's 2020 National Social Media Survey , a whopping 96% of Dutch people are active on social media. All major social media platforms have seen increased usage compared to last year. The biggest increases are Instagram (+710,000 users) and YouTube (+430,000 users). WhatsApp, with 12.1 million users, is the most popular platform in the Netherlands.

It's no surprise, then, that more and more companies are eagerly using social media. For example, to connect with their target audience. More than 30 million companies worldwide are active on LinkedIn alone, and this number is growing daily. Not surprising, considering that a LinkedIn ad could theoretically reach 12% of the global population.

It's clear that social media can offer enormous opportunities for businesses. Traditional media like print, radio, and TV used to be a shotgun approach. Now, with social media, we can reach our target audience at the right time, with the right message, and on the right platform.

    Collecting data
What matters most for companies when we talk about social media is collecting data from accurate cleaned numbers list from frist database their target audience. And a lot of it, as we say in Brabant. In an ideal world, companies would always handle individuals' data with integrity. The idea is: "We make it as easy as possible for consumers to find what they're looking for and offer them relevant content, while the advertiser, in turn, can use their marketing budget efficiently and serve their ideal customer in the best possible way." This should be a top priority for every organization.

But unfortunately, we don't always live in a fair and honest world. That's precisely why the so-called GDPR legislation came into effect in Europe on May 25, 2018. And in 2019, social media giant Facebook was reprimanded and fined a record $5 billion by the US Federal Trade Commission for privacy scandals.

Given the above developments regarding consumer protection and data, we're increasingly hearing that third-party cookies will eventually disappear. For example, Google announced earlier this year that they would ban tracking cookies (third-party cookies) in their Chrome browser starting in 2022. A local example of a company that has decided to stop using advertising cookies entirely is the NPO ( Dutch Public Broadcasting Corporation ).
