I kinda feel like a car with a pretty high mileage can’t really be in perfect condition. I mean, even brand-new cars sometimes aren’t in the best shape when they leave the factory. Anyway, I don’t know, the guy seems nice, I actually like him as a person, but should I just take his word for it?

If you have doubts, then yeah, you definitely need to check. But honestly, I’d say don’t trust sellers blindly. Nothing good ever comes out of that. Better check everything yourself and see if he’s telling the truth or lying.

Whether you have suspicions or not, you need to check everything you can check. There’s no point in trusting sellers at their word. You’re doing yourself a disservice and for no reason. There are mechanics who can go with you to inspect the car. There are services like FAXVIN to get a VIN report with info collected from official sources, insurance companies, and state registries. You do all this for yourself, for your nerves, and for your money.
